Country Tuscany Villa - Villa Petraia is a fabulous converted farmhouse with a private pool, The villa lies a mere 15 minutes drive from the renowned Tuscan town of Cortona or from the pretty shores of Lake Trasimeno. Villa Petraia's strategic venue is further enhanced by its three-mile proximity to the Siena to Perugia motorway - superstrada. This is a great base from which to explore Tuscanys hilltop towns and the hidden treasures of Umbria.
Cortona Villa - The villa is surrounded by woods and olive trees, offering many shady spots and furnished garden area including a vine-covered loggia. A gardener tends to the grounds every day. Nearest home is 200 meters away.
Country Tuscany Villa - The comfortable and spacious interiors feature French doors that open onto the garden and terraces. All three bedrooms have air conditioned (payable locally). Some windows have screens in the common rooms as well as in two of the bedrooms. Maid service and a welcome hamper can be arranged at the time of reservation.
Tuscany Farmhouse - DESCRIPTION: Ground floor: Entrance hall. Spacious living room with sofa bed, fireplace, TV and doors to the outside. Bath with WC. The dining room has doors leading to the gardens. The kitchen is fully equipped with stove top, oven, microwave, fridge, dishwasher. The kitchen opens out onto the furnished, covered pergola.
First floor: Hallway with door to a covered terrace. One bedroom with double bed, door to the terrace and en suite bathroom with tub and jacuzzi and shower. One bedroom with a queen size bed and private balcony. One smaller bedroom with two single, beds can be joined together. One bathroom with shower.
Cortona Villa - Outside: Utility room with washing machine.
Tuscany Farmhouse - ACTIVITIES: Shopping and Dining: the closest restaurant and grocery store is in Petraia, a 5-minute drive. Within a 15-minute drive, Cortona offers a variety of dining and shopping options.
Open Air Markets: in Cortona and Arezzo Markets are held on Saturday mornings.
To be seen in Cortona is the Museo dell' Accademia Etrusca, a museum filled with pieces from the 4th to the 15th centuries. The highlight of the museum is the 4th century BC bronze oil lamp chandler. The 16th century Medici fortress, many gardens and views from this historical fortress are not to be missed.
Festivals: "Sagra della Bistecca": On August 14-15 Cortona celebrates the Chiana Valley beefsteak holding a large communal barbecue in the Parterre Gardens.
LOCATION: A narrow dirt track, half-mile long road leads to Petraia, 2 ½ miles (small supermarket and a restaurant) while the hilltop town of Cortona is 4 ½ miles away.
