Farm Holidays Tuscany near Siena - FARM SAN QUIRICO D'ORCIA: While being absorbed by the "greenness" of this region, Farm San Quirico d'Orcia offers you excellently furnished, typical toscan apartments. Every apartment is dotated with bathroom and cable T.V. The guests of the apartments can use a cosy, nice and warm common room with a fireplace. The garden and external courtyard ensures the pleasant rest, but the accessories for an open-air dinner are not missing. The excellent climate, the big spaces and the amazing view are the perfect components of a relaxing and special holiday in any time of the year.
Tuscany Apartments - PLACES TO VISIT IN VAL D'ORCIA:
Bagno Vignoni (5 chilometri): Few houses, a Turkish bath, amazing and quiet valley, blue gulf: this is Bagno Vignoni, a charming corner of the toscan lowland.
Ripa d'Orcia (6 chilometri): Among the green bushes of Orcia the Middle Ages stagnate. An unpolished castle, the view of the thrushes, the geraniums, the bursted walls of the castle and a few cypresses: a vanished world, you will love it.
Vignoni alto, Rocca d'Orcia, Radicofani, Spedaletto: Four castles, four types of fortification. Endless scenery, stone houses for every eventuality, few bushes of mint. These places have to be enjoyed in silence.
Pienza (9 chilometri): One of Italy's most harmonic square, a fortunate synthesis of the Renaissance. The light Doom, the linear Refinement of the Piccolomini Palace, the dimness of the town hall, the wide windows of the bishop's palace, the redness of the tower, the Doom with its carved tower and a real jewel well stands in front of us as an unsurpassable unit.
Sant'Antimo (25 chilometri): After Montalcino, beautiful dormant sienan rocks among the greyish-green olive trees, we can find Sant'Antonio: a bell-tower covered by a big cypress, a thousand years old convents modest and solemn building in the deep of a quiet valley.
Monte Oliveto (26 chilometri): A lively and organic red, inserted among the abundant cypress of the nature.Monte Oliveto reminds us of the Renaissance patterns and shows us, beside the power of imagination of Sodom and del Signorelli, elegant flower pots, beautiful miniatures and excellently carved wooden objects.
Montalcino (10 Km): The home of Brunello can be the purpose of our visit because of the beautiful Fortezza, the monuments and because you have here one of the most beautiful views of Val d'Orcia.
Farm Holidays Tuscany - OURS PRODUCTS:
The wine: The grape growed on our farm offers a special DOC biologic vine, which is prepared from sangiovese, merlot and syrah grape, carefully separated and pressed by the best viticulture tradition. The homeland of the grape is Val d'Orcia, with its famous vines: Brunello di Montacino and Nobile di Montacino. The wine is bottled on the farm, following the ancestor's tradition.
The oil: From the olive-tree woods, which are cultivated with traditional methods, we gain our oil: when the olive-trees reach the degree of optimal ripe, the berries are picked by hand, taken straight to the rub and pressed every third day. Due to these operations, our oil preserves its characteristic taste and its acid content is indeed zero. In San Quirico d'Orcia, at the beginning of every December, the traditional oil-festival is organised. This is the perfect opportunity to taste our oil and take part on our unique feast.
The honey: Our honey is gained from the nectar of many flowers. It has a therapeutic role too, because of the many flowers that are used, we can find in it Val d'Orcia flor's most important nectars. The bees gain the nectar from ecologically healthy environment and store it in the beehive, as nutriment reserve. The apiarist opens the beehive, takes out the honey and puts it in dishes for a few days, until it's filtered. Without any additional treatment, the healthiest nutriment- is ready for consume.
